Admissions

Carla is admitted to practice law in the state of Arkansas, the state of New York, in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern and Western Districts of Arkansas, and before the Supreme Court of the United States.

Memberships

Carla is a past member of the Alumni Board of UALR Bowen School of Law and has served as Secretary-Treasurer of the Arkansas Bar Association Political Action Committee. She is a member of the Arkansas Bar Association, Pulaski County Bar Association,  and the New York State Bar Association, where she is currently serving on the Committee for Attorney Professionalism.

Biography

Carla began her career in 1992 as a legal secretary where she immediately found a sense of purpose.  Thanks to a strong sense of determination, an ingrained desire to learn, and many mentors, she reached her goal of graduating law school in 2012, spending all of the intervening years working full time in the legal profession.  She was affectionately referred to by her classmates as the “Law School Nerd”, a title she wore proudly.   Immediately after passing the Arkansas Bar Exam in July 2012, she set her sights on the New York Bar Exam, and currently maintains her license in both states.  From November 2012 to September 2020 Carla successfully operated a solo-practitioner law firm where she developed lasting client relationships based on quality work product and client service standards.  When asked why she chose to join our firm, she explained that the back-office resources available here allow her to focus more of her time on doing the work she loves – providing legal services to the clients.

Personal

Born in North Little Rock, Arkansas, Carla grew up on a dirt road in the tiny community of Plumerville in Conway County, Arkansas.   She has two grown daughters, with whom she is fortunate to spend a great deal of time.  Tricia, the youngest, is Carla’s paralegal here at the firm.  Missa, the oldest, is her personal trainer.

Hobbies

Carla is an adrenaline junkie who will jump at the chance to ride rollercoasters.  She is a marathoner and a triathlete.  You will find her most often out on the River trail running or cycling.  When she is not outside soaking up Vitamin D and generating endorphins, you will find her in the kitchen preparing meals for her friends and family.  She considers New York City her mothership and travels there to re-energize her batteries (and as a bonus, fulfill CLE requirements) as often as possible.
